The Tonehounds were un-officially formed in 2002 just south of the Mason-Dixon. Soon after birth we packed up the guitars & drums and set out to play any place that would that could handle our fire branded rockabilly and swinging blues. Well, as it turns out lots of people liked the change of pace from generic top 40 crap to a heaping helping of Rockin' Americana Pie with gravy. We were blessed in return with regular appearances at several blues festivals and nightclubs throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland. In 2007 The Tonehounds slowed down the gigs in order to finish 2 cd's of traditional Honky-Tonk for the legendary Joltin’ Jim McCoy of Troubadour Records fame.
The Tonehounds have now re-grouped for 2008, with new energy and bunch of new songs soon to be recorded at Jim's studio and with any luck, available this spring. While recording at the Troubadour the band has become good friends with Joltin' Jim McCoy and you can catch us on a regular basis at one of the last great honky-tonks anywhere; The Troubadour Lounge.
With a lineup of some of the areas hottest musicians the The Tonehounds fan base is constantly growing especially with fellow musicians who also come out to watch us burn up the stage again and again with our own brand of hard swingin' double wide twang. Full moon or not, If your itchin' for some fun come on out and howl for your dose of Twisted Tele’s, Jumping Bass and Steam-train Sticks.
Swingin’ the Root near you soon.
